Grammy Awards 2015 Update: First Round of Performers Revealed

Grammy Awards 2015

In the Twitter page of the award giving body, the organizers officially confirmed that Madonna, AC/DC, Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande and Eric Church will be performing at the 2015 Grammy Awards. The announcement was also confirmed by the stars and their publicists on their respective social media accounts.

The news of Madonna's performance at the 57th Grammy Awards was broken by a Twitter status posted by the phenomenal artist herself.

"Rebel Hearts see you Feb 8th @TheGRAMMYs #GRAMMY's ??#rebelheart," the seven-time Grammy winner shared to her fans and followers via the social networking site. The event organizers also posted a status update, confirming that Madonna will indeed perform.

Ariana Grande's performance was also confirmed via a Twitter post. This was then corroborated by an update from the pop singer herself on her own Twitter account.

She is currently up for a chance to bring home two awards as she was nominated for Best Pop Duo or Group Performance for the single "Bang Bang", which she performed alongside Nicki Minaj and Jessie J.

Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX are also nominted for this award for their hit collaboration "Fancy." Christina Aguilera and A Great Big World's work on "Say Something" received a Grammy nod as well, while Coldplay's "A Sky Full Of Stars" also earned a nomination.

Grande is also nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album for her song "My Everything," along with Miley Cyrus for "Bangerz"; co-performer Ed Sheeran for "X"; and Sam Smith for "In the Lonely Hour."

Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran's performance in the highly anticipated event was confirmed by a post on Grammy's Twitter account. The post was retweeted by the singer on his account as a way of updating his own followers as well.

Erich Church also used the same social networking platform to announce his inclusion on the list of performers chosen for the celebration. Church is nominated for four awards in the Grammys this year -- Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song, Best Country Duo, or Group Performance.

The event organizer also confirmed through Twitter that AC/DC will grace the event, which was also confirmed by the rock band on their own Twitter account.

Meanwhile, a new category, called Best American Roots Performance, has been added to the awards ceremony this year. Those nominated under this award include musical styles of traditional Northern American or regional roots origin. Best Roots Gospel Album is another new addition to the awards, which recognizes musicians using the traditional Southern Gospel music in their performances.

The 57th Grammy Awards night will be held in the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 8, 2015. A total of 83 awards will be given out, but approximately 70 will be bestowed during the live telecast or the 'Premiere Ceremony.'
