Nokia N1 Android Tablet Selling Like Hotcakes In China, Third Batch Of Units Under Way

Nokia's first ever Android tablet has just sold out yet again in China.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Nokia N1 went on sale for the second time around in China this month, and several minutes later, no single device was left in stock.

Just last week, the Finnish manufacturer was able to sell 20,000 units in China in less than four minutes.

The Nokia N1 is the brand's first Android tablet to hit the market, and in spite the control of Microsoft over its mobile department, the slate still went on sale without bearing any resemblance to the Lumia lineup.

Last year, Nokia and Microsoft finalized their deal to cooperate and work on future Lumia handsets powered by Windows Phone OS. Unfortunately for Nokia's mobile department, Microsoft had other plans.

In December, the Redmond giant launched its first ever Microsoft Lumia device, scratching the Nokia brand. Surprisingly, the Fins still came up with an Android-powered tablet that piqued public interest due to its solid design and top-notch specs.

Announced late last year, the Nokia N1 packs a 7.9-inch IPS LCD touch screen with 2,048 x 1,536 resolution, an Intel Atom Z3580 chipset, which comes with a 2.3 GHz quad-core CPU, and 2GB of RAM which allows multi-tasking easier and faster.

Other notable specs of the Nokia slate include an 8 MP primary camera, a 5 MP front snapper, and the usual connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS.

The device packs a massive 5,300 mAh battery which should last an entire day with moderate to slightly heavy usage. The Nokia N1 features a 32GB internal storage without a microSD card slot, which should be a downside for a few power users.

However, to make up for it, the Finnish brand included Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, making it an ideal option for Android and Nokia users alike.

Other Android slates which rival the N1's debut include the Nexus 9 from Google and HTC, and the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet.

While the second consecutive sell out by the N1 is impressive, a report from Nokia Power User is still figuring out the exact number of sold devices in the second batch.

In the report, the Nokia N1 will make an appearance in China for the third time on January 22, wherein pre-registrations will begin tomorrow.
