Asus Zenfone 2 Release Date, Specs: Find Out Why Phone is Trending Worldwide

Announced during the Consumers Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the Asus Zenfone 2 is considered by many as the most-anticipated handset in budget-conscious markets.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the device could arrive in Malaysia beginning in April. However, despite the usual look based on previous Asus smartphones, the Zenfone 2 packs some punch.

The Android-powered smartphone boasts a 5.5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and a 13MP primary camera at the back with dual-LED flash.

As far as performance goes, the Zenfone 2 has a 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 or Z3560 processor, an option for either a 2GB or 4GB RAM, and alternatives for 16GB, 32GB and 64GB of internal memory.

Intel is still not considered a popular choice among chip makers for smartphones. However, Asus has been doing this for a couple of years already and it worked well for them.

Consumers are intrigued with its sleek design as well as its aggressive pricing. The Asus Zenfone 2 boasts a metallic frame that is designed to look a lot more expensive than it really is.

In the report, the Android smartphone will be available for $199 for the 2GB RAM version of the phablet, while the 4GB RAM edition is expected to cost $100 more.

Aside from the Asus Zenfone 2, there are also a number of impending releases for the Taiwan-based manufacturer. These two are the Zenfone C and Zenfone Zoom. However, we should all expect them to hit the stores a lot later than the company's flagship.

Asus is pretty new in the mobile market competition, especially that its main department relies on laptop and tablet development. However, the huge success of the Zenfone 4, 5 and 6 last year has prompted the company to try better options and explore new markets.

The company's new smartphones will soon make their way into the market, especially that the brand is slowly getting recognized throughout the Asian region.
