Upcoming Asus Phones 2015: Budget Handset Zenfone C Goes Official, Boasts 4.5" Display, Dual-Core CPU, 5MP Shooter

Earlier this year, Asus announced a duo of handsets that would certainly up its game in the mobile market. Both the Zenfone 2 and the Zenfone Zoom are high-end smartphones at midrange prices.

However, the Taiwanese brand did not fail to recognize its growing mass market following in Asia. Before the end of January, Asus announced the Zenfone C ZC451CG, or simply Zenfone C.

According to Phone Arena, the device is now official and retail price is set at $95. The device will come in several colors including black, red, and white.

In the report, the device boasts a rather small 4.5-inch display compared to industry standards. There is also much to be desired of its 480 x 854 resolution, but with a price tag below $100, those are certainly worth it for the budget shopper.

The Asus Zenfone C packs a 1GB RAM, a dual-core CPU running at 1.2GHz each, an Intel Atom Z2520 chipset and 8GB of internal storage. The device also comes with a microSD card slot, a 5MP primary camera at the back, and a VGA front-facing shooter.

The Zenfone C reportedly measures only 136.5 x 67 x 10.9 mm and weighs 149 grams, which is ideal for people who love stuffing their phones in their front pockets. In spite the entry-level specs and pricing, the device does come with an ample 2,100mAh battery which should be able to power the device for an entire day.

However, for users who run their phone batteries out during the day, Asus also announced a new powerbank.

In the same report by Phone Arena, the Taiwanese company launches the ZenPower 9600 portable power charger. In the report, the device has a 9600mAh power capacity and can reportedly charge three smartphones to full power in just one charge.

The powerbank also comes in a number of color options (black, silver, cyan, etc.), but the report did not mention how much the device would cost.

The ZenFone C follows the footsteps of the Zenfone 4 as an entry-level device, which was released a year ago during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. While the Taiwanese brand did not repeat the number patterns of its releases in 2014, its new ZenFone 2, ZenFone Zoom, and now the ZenFone 2 provide Android and Asus fans with as many options as the ZenFones 4, 5 and 6 did the previous year.
