HTC One M9 Rumors, Specs, Release Date: Upcoming Smartphone with Dot View Case Leaked?

The HTC One M9 is the Taiwanese manufacturer's bet to take on some of the best Android smartphones to be launched at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on March 1.

However, several weeks before the actual event, the One M9 was finally spotted online. Unfortunately, a Dot View Case conceals the device's actual look.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Android flagship was leaked via images by an alleged HTC employee. In the report, the employee chose to leak the live images of the One M9 via China's biggest and most popular social media website, Weibo.

However, the report pointed out that HTC may have actually encouraged the employee to post the supposed leaks in order to hype up the interest of the public.

In the leaked images, the HTC One M9 is covered with the Dot View Case and the accessory's back showed a huge cutout for the One M9's square-ish camera. The report pointed out that this is definitely not the One M8 because its rear shooter is circular in shape.

Similar to previous leaks, the huge primary camera has dual LED flash beside it that would reportedly provide lighting similar to that of the iPhone. The entire front part of the device is covered with the 'holes' or 'dots' of the Dot View Case. In the report, the only interesting thing about the front portion is the small cutout on the upper right portion of the device.

Previous rumors claimed that the One M9 will boast a selfie shooter that is similar to that of the Desire EYE and One M8 EYE, which both pack UltraPixels. However, the small opening in the upper right portion of the case disputed that claim.

Still, a consumer pointed out in the comments section of the report that the Dot View Case was probably not designed to cover the front-shooter. This means the small opening on the upper right portion could be for the proximity sensor instead.

Other alleged specs of the One M9 include a 5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, the company's first 3GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 810 chipset, octa-core CPU, and 32GB of internal memory.

The device is also expected to come with a 20MP primary camera at the back, 4MP UtraPixel front camera, a microSD card slot that can support up to 128GB of storage, a 2,840mAh battery, and Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.
