Sony Xperia Z4 Release Date: Phone Maker To Launch Xperia Z4 After All, New Leak Reveals Flagship's Build

The CES and MWC have both come and gone, and still there were no high-end Sony devices in sight.

But just when Android and Sony fans are beginning to lose hope and move on, this happens.

A new report from Phone Arena, alleged press renders of the Sony Xperia Z4 have surfaced online. The leaked images were posted online by reliable leaker French website Nowwhereelse.fr.

In the report, the leaked images show all of the Android handset's sides, which just means that it is already a complete version as far as the exterior features are concerned. While there are still no indications that Sony is finished with the insides of its new flagship, fans may not need to wait too long.

Based on the images leaked, the Sony Xperia Z4 will look similar to the Xperia Z3 with a number of subtle changes such as the slightly changed position of the large speakers in front of the device.

Rumors have also been claiming that the Android-powered flagship will boast the same 5.2-inch display as its predecessor, although it is still unclear whether Sony would opt for a Full HD (1920 x 1080) or a QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution.

Rumors also indcated that the Japan-based manufacturer would offer both variants, which means there may also be two versions of the smartphone, just like what Samsung did.

Other alleged specifications include 3GB or 4GB of RAM, a Sony-made 20.7MP primary camera and Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.

Previous reports are claiming that the new Sony flagship would boast the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset. In fact, a report from UberGizmo claims that Sony has been trying to find a fix for the overheating issues of the Snapdragon SoC.

In the same report, Sony is allegedly preparing a tablet as well, aptly named the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet, which would feature the same chipset. Last year's version of the Z Tablet lineup was a more compact version and was named Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, featuring an 8-inch display with 1080p resolution, 3GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 801 chip, and 8MP shooter.

Last year at the IFA event, some fans expressed their disappointment because of the resemblance and minor improvements of the Xperia Z3 over the Xperia Z2 which was launched six months earlier.
