The Chinese telecom firm Huawei is reportedly gearing up to unveil the Ascend P8 smartphone in a press conference on April 15.

Rumors about the company's big reveal emerged after images of its invitations for an event in London surfaced, according to Android Authority.

The invites do not contain much information except for the company's logo and the bold words "It's coming." In addition, the invitation stated that the press conference will take place between 3 to 4:30 pm.

As for the company's upcoming Ascend flagship smartphone, Huawei has remained light-lipped regarding its specifications.

But according to rumors, the Ascend P8 might have a 5.2-inch handset and a 1920x1080p resolution display. The device could also be powered by the octa-core Kirin 930 processor and 3GB of RAM. Huawei's latest smartphone might also run on Android 5.0 Lollipop with the company's Emotion UI.

Also, the Ascend P8 might sport a ceramic unibody construction and a 13-megapixel OIS rear camera. If the rumor about the camera is true, then users can adjust the image's focal point after snapping the photograph.

Aside from Huawei's invites for the upcoming mysterious event, a leaked image of an alleged Ascend P8 also surfaced online. The image was obtained by Twitter user OnLeaks and it only showed the lower portion of the smartphone that featured the Huawei logo.

According to OnLeaks, the image was taken from the company's factory and shows the prototype model of the Ascend P8. The tech news site Phone Arena noted that the final design for the Ascend P8 might change compared to the one shown in the leaked image.

OnLeaks was not able to answer questions from other Twitter users regarding the features of the mobile such as if it will have a removable battery. However, OnLeaks teased that more information regarding the Ascend P8 will be released in the near future.
