Asus Zenfone 2 Release Date Hits China, But Only The 5.5" Versions Are Available?

Asus Zenfone 6

The long wait is finally over for the Chinese market.

After waiting for more than two months, the world's biggest smartphone market will finally get the new Asus Zenfone 2.

However, for consumers who are not aware, the Zenfone 2 is in fact composed of a number of versions ranging from a difference in screen size, resolution, and processor.

According to the report by GSM Arena, the only models that will be available in China are the Zenfone 2 phones that have 5.5-inch displays.

In the report, it will be the ZE551ML Zenfone 2 models that will be available in the Asian country. This model has three versions: one with an 2.3GHz Intel Atom chipset, 4GB RAM, and 64GB internal storage, another with a slower 1.8GHz Intel Atom chipset, 4GB RAM and 32GB built-in storage, and the last version running on a 1.8GHz Intel Atom chipset, 2GB of RAM and only 16GB of internal memory.

All three smartphones will boast a 5.5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, a microSD card slot, a 13MP primary camera that can shoot 1080p clips at 30fps, and a 5MP front shooter.

In addition, the ZE551ML models of the Asus Zenfone 2 will also support LTE connectivity, pack a 3,000mAh battery, and run on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.

In the report, the top-end model will be priced at CNY 1,999 or around $322, the next version costs CNY 1,699 or $273, while the basic 5.5-inch model has a price tag of CNY 1,299 or around $210.

Based on the pricing details revealed by the report, they appear to be similar to the ones unveiled in Taiwan in a report a couple of weeks ago.

The cheapest Asus Zenfone 2 models that have been left out for now include the ZE550ML that has a 5.5-inch display and HD (1280 x 720) resolution, 2GB RAM and 16GB of built-in memory, and the ZE500CL, which is the only 5-inch device version of the Zenfone 2. The two devices cost around $190 and $160 respectively.

Announced back at the CES in Las Vegas in January, the Asus Zenfone 2 has since become one of the most popular handsets for Android fans due to its combination of high quality specs, and affordable pricing.

One contender that the Zenfone 2 will surely be wary off is the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro, which was announced in January as well, and should be in the international market in the coming months.
