Just earlier this week, rumors came up that Oppo is planning to launch a smartphone with a 'bezel-less' screen.

Now, it looks like the rumor already came late as an unknown Oppo device gets certified in Indonesia.

According to a report from Phone Arena, Indonesia's equivalent of the FCC in the US has just certified an unknown Oppo smartphone. While the Postel listing did not confirm any specs of the device, it showed a model number A11w that is still a mystery among Android fans in the region.

In spite not having any tangible connections to the bezel-less smartphone showcased a couple of days ago in a video, it seems there is a correlation with the timing the Oppo smartphone was leaked in a live footage and the certification in the Asian country.

Based on the rumor, the 'bezel-less' smartphone will boast a 5.5-inch display with unknown resolution. The big deal about bezels is that it allows the user to have a wide screen that he could use.

Most manufacturers in recent years have slowly trimmed down the bezels in their handsets. These bezels are the areas in front of the device that are not covered by the display.

For instance, the Sony Xperia Z lineup once had one of the largest top and bottom bezels in the industry. The Sony label at the top, and the Xperia branding at the bottom of the device ate too much space that these handsets were considered larger than their rivals that have the same display size.

As for Oppo, the Chinese manufacturer may be trying to get the world's attention with its new bezel-less smartphone, that would make its way initially to Indonesia, and other markets in Southeast Asia.

Oppo is a Chinese brand that produces smartphones and other consumer electronic devices. The company propelled its name to fame when the world discovered its Oppo N1 that had a swivel 13MP primary camera.

By this time last year, the company unveiled two high-end devices, the Oppo Find 7 and the Find 7a. The former was among the first device to ever boast a QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) display.

In spite the huge success Oppo has been experiencing the past few years, it remains inferior to other Chinese brands like Xiaomi, Huawei and Lenovo, who have all managed to sell millions of Android handsets on a yearly basis.
