Boxing legend Muhammad Ali has picked his side and will support Manny Pacquiao in the upcoming fight between the Filipino champion and Floyd Mayweather on May 2 at MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Pacquiao, who holds an impressive 57-5-2 record with 38 knockout victories, will be the 46th fighter who will try to hand Mayweather the first defeat of his Hall of Fame boxing career. The 36-year-old Filipino is considered by many as a heavy underdog, but "The Greatest" thinks otherwise.
Rasheda Ali, who has a close relationship with her father, said in an interview with TMZ Sports that she has no doubt her father is hoping Pacquiao will win in the biggest fight of his career.
"My dad is Team Pacquiao all the way," Rasheda Ali said. My dad really likes Manny. He's a huge fan of his."
Rasheda Ali also clarified that while her father is still in awe with the boxing skills of Pacquiao, the Hall of Fame boxer is reportedly more impressed with the way the reigning World Boxing Organization welterweight champion handles himself outside of the boxing ring.
"He knows Manny's a great fighter," Rasheda Ali continued. "But it's more about what he does outside the ring. He's such a charitable person."
Rasheda Ali also added that her father knows Pacquiao very well and they appreciate the fact that the Filipino boxing icon even took time to attend the 70th birthday of the former world champion in 2012. Rasheda added that her father might not be able to watch the fight, but she is quite sure Muhammad will watch it on pay-per-view.
"There's no question he's going to order it," Rasheda Ali said. "It takes my dad way back to when he was fighting."
As for the continuous comparison between Mayweather and Muhammad Ali, Rasheda said that she cannot see why her father is being compared to the reigning pound-for-pound king. She pointed out that her father and Mayweather is incomparable because they have completely different personalities.
"My dad stood for things," Rasheda said. "Mayweather, I don't think there's a comparison."
