Disney Donates $100K Upon Release of New 2015 Movie ‘Monkey Kingdom’

Disneynature pledged to donate $100K to Conservation International, a nonprofit organization that protects nature. Disney's  documentary 'Monkey Kingdom' is about a tribe of South Asian macaque monkeys that are kicked out of their home, Castle Rock. The tribe unites to get their home back, facing obstacles along the way. The film hits theaters on Friday, April 17, 2015.

Maya, a blonde-bobbed monkey has a son. She wants her son Kip to have a bright future in their family. Maya discovers new resources for her family when they are kicked out of Castle Rock, their longtime home. Maya, Kip, Raja, the Sisterhood, and Kumar work together to regain their territory. The monkeys face predators such as a mongoose, leopards, and lizards in their journey. The movie also features langur monkeys.

The cast of the film are Maya, Kip, the Sisterhood, Raja, and Kumar. Mark Linfield and Alastair Fothergill directed the film. The film's soundtrack is by composer Harry Gregson-Williams. It was produced by Disneynature and Silverback Films.

Disneynature will donate $100K to Conservation International(CI) through its Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund. For every movie ticket purchased during opening week (April 17-April 23), Disneynature will donate an additional $.20 per ticket to CI.
