NBA 2K16 PS4, Xbox One Release Date & Gameplay Details: Cover, Wishlist, Game Modes? Here’s What We Know So Far!

NBA 2K15 managed to live up to expectations and gamers are already looking forward to the next iteration of the popular basketball video game series.

Game developer 2K Sports has yet to reveal details about NBA 2K16, but several information have allegedly leaked online, including details about game covers and game modes, while gamers have also listed wish lists in the hope of getting better gaming experience this year.

Based on leaked images sent to Polygon, NBA superstars Kevin Durant of Oklahoma City Thunder, James Harden of Houston Rockets and Stephen Curry will get their own covers in NBA 2K16.

With the three players appearing on the covers of NBA 2K16, reports indicated that Durant, Harden and Curry will also feature prominently in the upcoming video game. Based on the leaked images, all three superstars are also expected to promote the game through their official social media accounts.

Popular icon Spike Lee will also be featured in the game and will be heavily involved in the production of the game as his name will also appear on the cover. It remains to be seen what role Lee will play, but reports suggested that he will be involved in the popular Career Mode.

The NBA 2K Career Mode has been a popular feature since it was introduced in NBA 2K14. According to Travis Pope of Gotta Be Mobile, Lee's involvement could bring the game mode to another level.

"Lee is a celebrated director and writer with movies like He Got Game and Do The Right Thing under his belt," Pope wrote. "Spike Lee is also a huge basketball fan, making him the perfect addition to a roster that's included rapper Jay Z and recording artist Pharrell Williams."

Meanwhile, 2K Sports is always making sure that they will give what gamers are expecting from them. Most fans have been trying to get their voices heard.

Based on most wish list online compiled by WhatCulture, gamers are looking for much-improved serves for better online experience. NBA 2K fans are also looking for the return of NBA D-League, which was removed from NBA 2K15, and a standalone NBA All-Star Weekend game mode.

When it comes to gameplay, fans are looking for better foul-calling engine, more accurate stats monitoring, improved MyCareer Mode and more authentic player movement.

More information about NBA 2K16 are expected to be unveiled at the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo that is scheduled in June. There are no release date details at this point, but previous NBA 2K games were released during first week of October.
