Boxing News 2015: Mike Tyson Says Floyd Mayweather Is ‘Delusional’ & ‘Scared’ Man

Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather

Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson blasted Floyd Mayweather Jr. for saying that he is better than boxing legend Muhammad Ali.

Mayweather recently said that while he respects Ali, he has no doubt in his mind he is the best boxer ever because he has yet to lose in 47 professional fights. He pointed out that Ali had five defeats in his career, including in three of his last four bouts before retiring for good in 1981.

When asked about Mayweather's statement about Ali, Tyson took a swipe at the reigning pound-for-pound king, saying Mayweather has no right to call himself the greatest fighter of all time.

"He's very delusional," Tyson said of Mayweather. "Listen, if he was anywhere near that realm of great Ali, he'd be able to take his kids to school by himself. He can't take his kids to school by himself and he's talking about he's great? Greatness is not guarding yourself from the people, greatness is being accepted by the people."

Tyson stepped up his tirade, calling Mayweather a "scared man" like what most boxing analysts were saying before because of his reluctance to face Pacquiao, who is considered as his greatest rival.

Tyson said that he wants Pacquiao to prove that he is better than Mayweather on Saturday night. While he is predicting a close fight, the former undisputed champion believes Pacquiao has all the tools to knock Mayweather out in the biggest fight of the century.

Like Tyson, Laila Ali also laughed off Mayweather's assessment, saying that her father is still the greatest boxer of all time. She insisted that Mayweather has not done enough to bump her father on top of the list of great fighters in history of the sport.

"I believe as a fighter and a world champion, someone at his level should feel that way about himself, but that doesn't make it true," Laila Ali told TMZ Sports. "The first thing I think about is the man my father is outside of the ring. So I don't see Floyd being better than Muhammad Ali."

Laila Ali also thinks Mayweather should seek serious advice after his upcoming fight against Mayweather to get guidance because she thinks the Grand Rapids native is surrounded by people who are not helping him become a better person outside the ring.

"I don't hate him. I dislike the way he acts and I dislike the way that he treats people," Mayweather said. "And I'm definitely not down with him beating up women, because that's very cowardly. But the first thing I think about is that he needs somebody to reach out to him and kind of guide him."
