"Fear The Walking Dead' will finally bring on answers as to what might have happened to the world when Rick Grimes was in a coma.

Producers of the AMC original series have already revealed that the zombie apocalypse will begin five to six weeks before Rick got into a coma in "The Walking Dead.'

However, the brand-new series will not go into detail when it comes to the events in Atlanta. On the other hand, it is set to focus on what happened in Los Angeles.

The entire apocalypse will be shown through the perspective of the dysfunctional family of Travis and his girlfriend Madison. The "walking dead' virus will hit the City of Angels and will similarly turn human beings into walkers just when the family begins its process of mending their relationships.

"By the end of season 1, we definitely know the world has changed, but we're not at the same place where Rick woke up," executive producer David Erickson said in an interview with EW during the Television Critics Association's press tour.

Erickson also discussed the timeline of the new zombie drama series as well as a possible crossover with its companion series The Walking Dead.

"There's still a window of time, we'll have some real estate left. Rick's coma was about 4 to 5 weeks. If you track our story, we probably go three weeks over the course of our first season," he explained, while adding: "There is a time that may come that we catch up, and there may be a season where we do a major time cut. The thinking right now in season 1 and the writers' room for season 2 isn't about how do we intersect them how or catch up with the original show?"

Executive producer Robert Kirkman, who is working on both of the network's zombie apocalypse shows, previously announced that the new series can offer details about the events that took place on the missing days of "The Walking Dead.'

"Everything that happens in "Fear The Walking Dead' is in the same universe as 'The Walking Dead,'" Kirkman explained. "So any rule that we find out and anything they see in the early days is definitely something that was happening in the past of the other show.'

The comics and TV series creator also assured fans that details from "Fear the Walking Dead' can be applied to the mythology of "The Walking Dead' and vice versa; the only element that separates the characters from the two shows is the distance between them.

"These two shows are very intertwined in the same world, even if their characters aren't necessarily going to interact because of geographical distances," Kirkman added.

Cast members who have been confirmed for the upcoming program include Frank Dillane ("Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince'); Kim Dickens ("Sons of Anarchy', "Gone Girl'); Cliff Cutis ("Missing'); Alycia Debnam-Carey ("Into the Storm'); Mercedes Mason ("Quarantine 2: Terminal') and Elizabeth Rodriguez ("Orange is the New Black").

"Fear The Walking Dead' is set to release a special 90-minute premiere episode on Aug. 23 at 9pm ET/PT on AMC. Its official trailer can be viewed below.
