The first three minutes of AMC's "Fear the Walking Dead,' the upcoming companion series for "The Walking Dead,' has now been made available to watch online.

This week, AMC shared the new show's opening scene on Facebook ahead of the series' premiere this Sunday.

The first season of "Fear The Walking Dead' is comprised of six episodes and is set to make its official premiere on Aug. 23. The network has also ordered a second season to be unveiled in 2016.

As pointed out by executive producer David Erickson, viewers can look forward to "Fear The Walking Dead' drawing attention to the events that could have happened when Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) from the original "Walking Dead' series had been in a coma.

The companion show, however, will not focus on Atlanta but will shed more light on the events in Los Angeles.

This time, fans will understand the zombie apocalypse as it unfolds through the point of view of lead characters Travis (Cliff Curtis) and his girlfriend Madison (Kim Dickens). Similar to the original series, the "walking dead' virus will gruesomely transform human beings into "walkers' during the time when Travis' family goes into the process of putting back their relationships together.

"By the end of season 1, we definitely know the world has changed, but we're not at the same place where Rick woke up," Erickson said in an interview with EW during the Television Critics Association's press tour.

The executive producer also opened up about the new zombie drama series' timeline and even a likely crossover with the original "Walking Dead' show.

"There's still a window of time, we'll have some real estate left. Rick's coma was about 4 to 5 weeks. If you track our story, we probably go three weeks over the course of our first season," he explained, while adding: "There is a time that may come that we catch up, and there may be a season where we do a major time cut.

In the same way, executive producer Robert Kirkman, who is currently working on both of AMC's zombie drama shows, previously discussed how "Fear the Walking Dead' is strongly related to the original series.

"Everything that happens in "Fear The Walking Dead' is in the same universe as 'The Walking Dead,'" Kirkman explained. "So any rule that we find out and anything they see in the early days is definitely something that was happening in the past of the other show.'

The "Fear The Walking Dead' premiere will include a special 90-minute episode to be aired on Aug. 23 at 9pm ET/PT on AMC.
