'Maze Runner 2' Full Movie Spoilers, Plot & Cast: 'The Scorch Trials' TV Spot Shows Thomas and the Survivors Are In For A Surprise

Following the character posters as well the recently unveiled official trailer, 20th Century Fox has now released he first "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials' TV spot.

Actor Dylan O'Brien already dropped hints on what fans can expect in the upcoming installment. The 23-year-old star confirmed that his own character Thomas, together with Teresa (Kaya Scodelario), Newt (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), Minho (Ki Hong Lee), Frypan (Dexter Darden) and Winston (Alexander Flores), will eventually go head to head with the dreadful challenges waiting for them behind the wall.

In an interview with Hollywire TV, O' Brien also shared how Thomas will stumble upon a number of surprises when he learns about what is waiting outside of the maze.

The "Teen Wolf' actor also opened up about the rumors that fans have been speculating, particularly the possibility that the story will somehow lose its excitement now that their group has already found a way to escape. On the contrary, their seat-gripping journey only begins from here.

In "The Scorch Trials,' Thomas' group of maze survivors learns about the existence of the Scorch- the most burned-out part of the world. Their team is also forced to cross the region while WICKED brings on challenges and ensures that the odds are against these young individuals.

According to Empire Online, readers who have already come across the dystopian sci-fi novel by James Dashner will definitely be surprised as several changes in the story have already been incorporated in the upcoming film.

Director Wes Ball announced the decision to change the order of the series after asking for Dashner's permission with the goal of putting forward something "new and unexpected" in the franchise.

20th Century Fox previously released the first trailer and poster for "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials,' showing Thomas as he fights for survival by solving the Maze, triumphing over their quest and finding out that they have been used in an experiment conducted by the Creators.

"I think it's safe to say the maze trials were a complete success," a woman speaks in a voiceover at the beginning of the "Scorch Trials' trailer. "It's too soon to say, but they could be the key to everything. It's time now to begin phase two."

"Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials' is scheduled for a release in 3D, 2D, and IMAX theaters on Sept. 18.

The first movie, which was developed with a budget of $34 million, made a total gross of $340.8 million at the international box office.
