As "The Walking Dead' season six nears its premiere date, rumors continue to grace the headlines that the series' greatest villain yet will be making his debut this October.

A number of actors have already been associated with the villain Negan, the most horrifying antagonist that series creator and comic book creator Robert Kirkman has ever come up with.

Negan is the leader of a group of survivors who call themselves "the Saviors' and are known to terrorize closed communities. The group is a huge threat to Alexandria and other similar communities as Negan's crew takes supplies in exchange for keeping residents alive. Aside from being well-armed, the Saviors also have a tremendous number of people who operate within it.

One of the main reasons as to what fans are looking forward to in Negan's introduction in the TV adaptation is that he brings on a strong impact on Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) group, even killing a major character who is still alive on the AMC series. "

Showrunner Scott M. Gimple has released his statement about Negan being brought to the TV version of "The Walking Dead.'

"It's absolutely a possibility," Gimple said. "And when I say it's a possibility, we have a plan in place, but there's a couple variables for that plan that we're deciding about. It really depends on a few factors as we move into setting up the last bit of the season story-wise."

While there have been speculations that Jon Hamm or even Henry Rollins could be cast as Negan, one actor has stood out to be the most popular actor speculated to take on the villainous role.

Many may be familiar with Kevin Durand from "The Strain' and "Vikings.' Since the start of "The Walking Dead' season five, when Negan was said to be making his debut on the show, Durand's name has already been gracing the headlines as the actor chosen to portray the villain. Such rumors could have started during a conference call for his FX program.

As reported previously, the actor said that he was approached for a role on AMC's hit zombie drama series.

"I'm a huge "Walking Dead' fan, I watch it every week, I just started "Fear The Walking Dead' yesterday," he said. "I would love to play Negan, I think Negan is a great character, but I'm just so busy with the vampocalypse and causing chaos in Kattegat on "Vikings' that the only way that can happen is if Negan didn't come into play for a while. I'm still kind of answering people quite often about that and I'm honored that people think I should be this character because he seems to be a really awesome, horrible person who's fun to play."

Although Durand may seem to be convincing fans that he will not be participating in any commitments toward "The Walking Dead,' both Kirkman and Gimple have also explained in the past that it could be necessary for fans to wait for some time to have a glimpse of Negan's TV counterpart.
