"Iron Man 4' has yet to start with the production process and a script associated with the highly-anticipated movie is yet to be released.

However, Marvel is reportedly searching for a possible relationship between Tony Stark and Spiderman's longtime girlfriend/wife Mary Jane Watson. The studio could be shedding more light on this storyline owing to the fact that, in the "Invincible Iron Man' comic, its recent story line is expected to have Mary Jane as a regular in the series.

Looking into the comic books, Ms. Watson and Peter Parker have officially called it quits after their encounters in Superior Spiderman and "One Moment in Time' arcs.

Brian Michael Bendis, writer of the "Invincible Iron Man,' has already confirmed that Mary Jane lived in the Avengers Tower at least once and that she does know Mr. Stark.

Although such possibility of Mary Jane and Iron Man has already been demonstrated in the comics, this poses a question as to how such relationship can be linked to the current state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As pointed out by Newsarama, the definite nature of the relationship between Watson and Stark has not yet been unveiled, hence the chances that it could also be entirely professional. Iron Man could have hired Mary Jane as a personal assistant - similar to how he associated himself with Black Widow in "Iron Man 2.'

A new love interest for Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe could pose difficulties as well as the wealthy superhero and long-time assistant, now CEO of Stark Enterprises, Pepper Potts, are presently engaged and are enjoying a romantic relationship.

On the other hand, the duo has never been romantically linked in the comic books, as Potts eventually exchanged wedding vows with Happy Hogan.

Robert Downey, Jr. is expected to reprise his role as Iron Man in the next installment of the highly popular film series, which may not be released until 2019 when Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is completed.

Downey, Jr.'s character, though, will be playing a highly important role in the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War' as the flick follows Stark in his mission to lead his group of heroes against Captain America's team.

Iron Man is also set to be featured in the "Avengers: Infinity Wars' films as a founding member of the Avengers. The group will battle it out with the Mad Titan Thanos.

"Avengers: Infinity War' Part 1 is set for a release on May 4, 2018 while "Avengers: Infinity War' Part 2 makes its way to theaters on May 3, 2019.
