'The Walking Dead' Season 6 Spoilers: Lauren Cohan Says Character Maggie Becomes More Of A Leader

While Lauren Cohan's character on "The Walking Dead' may not have been placed in the battle's front lines outside Alexandria's walls, the actress recently opened up about Maggie Greene learning one of the key skills in keeping the community safe. Under the guidance of Deanna Monroe, fans will get to see how Maggie's leadership will play out in the upcoming sixth season.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Cohan discussed how Glenn's (Steven Yeun) partner has undergone numerous changes as an individual. She referred to the unfolding of her character's story as a "slow birth," which is, nonetheless, exciting to see once season six further unfurls.

"What I've really enjoyed is that she's learning while you don't see her, and then she gets to come back and acquire more authority and apply more guidance and help," Cohan shared. "You see Rick leaning on her a lot more this year, and that's been able to happen because she's gotten observe from the periphery."

The 33-year-old actress is also confident that, just like Maggie in the comics who ends up in a high leadership position, the TV counterpart will also wind up in the right place, thanks to her values and intentions.

When it comes to upcoming threats, Cohan touched on the subject of the Wolves, who have been somehow introduced last season as an approaching threat. The actress admitted that the Alexandria community will remain ill-equipped, the members will weaken and Rick's group of survivors will be their main source of strength.

As for Maggie and Glenn's relationship status in season six, Cohan revealed that the longtime couple will be in a happy place despite being on a highly challenging journey.

"There's a lot of sweetness and there are a lot of really, really scary challenges "” not for them as a couple, but for those two as individuals," the actress shared. "This is my favorite season yet. And I have said that before, but this is my favorite season yet."

Andrew Lincoln, who portrays group leader Rick Grimes, previously told Entertainment Weekly that season six, episode one will be "something that people are not going to expect."

"I certainly didn't when I read it," the actor admitted. "And when we filmed it, it just grew and grew and it got deeper and deeper."
