Fans of "The Walking Dead' were shocked by the unanticipated turn of events on Sunday, Oct. 25, which includes a major character being killed off from the show, or so it seems.

However, showrunner Scott M. Gimple is not giving out definite answers when it comes to the gruesome death of Glenn Rhee.

On Sunday's episode, Yeun's character, one of the show's original cast members, went through what seemed to be a horrific death as he was devoured alive by an entire horde of walkers after Nicholas (Michael Traynor) decided to shoot himself in the head and knocked Glenn off the dumpster on which they were both seeking protection.

This has been one of the program's most shocking deaths, if Glenn has really met his demise, despite viewers expecting the survivor to die this season because of what happened to him in the graphic novels on which the hit zombie drama is based on.

However, Gimple tells fans that such circumstances could be implying other things.

"In some way, we will see Glenn, some version of Glenn or parts of Glenn again, either in flashback or in the current story to help complete the story," he said, further prompting questions among the "Walking Dead' viewers.

Moreover, certain elements relating to the well-loved character's untimely death suggest that there could be hope for Maggie's (Lauren Cohan) husband. For instance, Yeun was not featured in the series' traditional wrap-up of characters who have been killed off from the show.

In addition, the character's death was not addressed in a straightforward manner on "The Talking Dead.' When discussing his supposed death, the show hosts said "Glenn appears to have been killed" rather than "Glenn is dead."

Yeun also did not make an appearance as a guest on "The Talking Dead,' possibly suggesting that his fan-fave character could still be alive due to the fact that, over the past years, major characters who are killed off from the series are brought on to the show as surprise guests.

Meanwhile, in the comics, Glenn is really battered to death by one of the story's greatest villains, Negan, who brutally beats him with a baseball bat covered in barbed wire. Majority of "The Walking Dead' fans had assumed Glenn was still safe owing to the fact that Negan has not yet been introduced in the show.

"Yes, I'm worried for Glenn," Yeun previously said, dropping hints about his character. "But we've always told our own story [on the show], and we've always told a version that could be the comics - and it could not be the comics. We'll see."

The 31-year-old actor also shared that he is immensely proud of the work he has carried out on the show.

"How I see it, we've made something so incredibly big, and so well received, and something that probably will go down in history as something to be remembered," he added. "So nah, I'm not scared to be killed off. It's been six years, and that wears off over time."

To find out whether Yeun has finally exited the series, fans can always look forward to "The Walking Dead' season six every Sunday on AMC.
