Fans had not been the only ones who were shocked and horrified with what happened to Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) in the third episode of "The Walking Dead' season six.

Even one of the show's stars, Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl Dixon on the hit zombie drama, seemed to be caught off guard by what seemingly appeared to be the death scene of the well-loved character.

"I was in that episode and I watched that episode and I was like how could they do that!" Reedus told the Wall Street Journal. "I had the same feeling, trust me. [But] that's our show. That's what we do. We rip your guts out -- literally."

In episode five titled "Now,' a pregnant Maggie (Lauren Cohan) was accompanied by Aaron (Ross Marquand) to look for Glenn.

With the revelation that Maggie is pregnant, similar to what happened in the comics, fans could still hope that Glenn survived his fall and might reappear in later episodes.

Based on the source material, Maggie's pregnancy begins a series of events that eventually leads to Glenn's demise at the hands of the great villain Negan. As such, having a baby in the TV series presents more evidence that the AMC series will follow Glenn's death as it was originally presented in the comics.

Whatever it is that the "Walking Dead' team has in store for Glenn's fate, Reedus shared that the remaining episodes of the sixth season will feature even more "mind-blowing stuff."

"It's really entered a mature level of storytelling this time," the "Air' actor said. "Little tiny things mean so much later. You really have to pay attention to everything. The acting is so on point, the directing is so on point. I feel like [showrunner] Scott [M. Gimple] is really leading the team to the Super Bowl."

Meanwhile, when it comes to his own character's fate in the popular AMC series, Reedus dropped hints that big things are yet to happen to Daryl before the current season ends.

"We're real close," he assured fans.

Although scarce details have been revealed when it comes to Daryl's storyline in "The Walking Dead' season six, viewers of the trailer that debuted at San Diego Comic-Con last July saw that Daryl puts himself in great danger after coming across an unknown group of survivors.

'The Walking Dead' season six airs every Sunday on AMC.
