The first photos of Benedict Cumberbatch in his role for the new Marvel Comics film "Doctor Strange' have been gracing the headlines as filming for the highly anticipated movie is well underway in Nepal.

The actor was recently spotted on the streets of Nepal decked out in full costume by a number of fans at different times, taking to social media and posting the behind-the-scenes images.

Looking into Cumberbatch's bearded photos, the 39-year-old star seemingly underwent quite a transformation for the role.

One of the images was uploaded by Prayush Khadka on Twitter, and showed the "Sherlock' actor standing on a balcony. Cumberbatch can be seen overlooking the city with a full beard on.

"Benedict cumberbatch in Nepal"¦shooting for #drstrange #movie #cumberbatch," the user tweeted along with the image.

In another post on the same social media site, Cumberbatch can be seen walking through the streets in Kathmandu while being surrounded by people on motorcycles.

"They are filming in Asan, a market in central Kathmandu, #DoctorStrange #BenedictCumberbatch," the user wrote.

The movie's crew members spent some time at the Kathmandu marketplace, and were also seen by Nigam Bhandari, another Twitter user. Bhandari's image showed filmmakers gathered outside of a jewelry store while Cumberbatch stayed in the background.

"It was absolutely amazing to see them work," the user tweeted.

Cumberbatch is taking on the role of the titular character in the movie, Stephen Strange. Looking into the source material, Doctor Strange formerly worked as a neurosurgeon and was forced to retire after suffering a great deal of damage to his hand during a car accident. Cumberbatch's character then looks to the realm of the mystical and finds out about a world filled with magic and multiple dimensions.

Starring opposite Cumberbatch for "Doctor Strange' is Rachel McAdams for the female lead. The film will also feature Michael Stuhlbarg as Doctor Nicodemus West, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, and Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One.

Moreover, "Hannibal' star Mads Mikkelsen will reportedly take on the role of the main villain whose identity remains undisclosed, although negotiations are yet to be finalized.

Martial artist Scott Adkins has been the most recent actor to sign on to the cast for an unknown role; the actor's movie credits include "The Bourne Ultimatum,' "The Expendables 2' and Kathryn Bigelow"s "Zero Dark Thirty.'

With Scott Derrickson taking on directorial duties, "Doctor Strange' is set to premiere in theaters in November 2016.
