Following the release of the first-look character posters this week, Universal Pictures recently unveiled a teaser trailer for the new fantasy movie, "The Huntsman: Winter's War', which stars Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt and Chris Hemsworth, among others.
"If it's a fairytale you're hoping for, prepare yourself for so much more," Evil Queen Ravenna, played by Theron, says in the clip.
Recognized as both a prequel and a spin-off, the fantasy story is set before and, in some ways, separate from the "Snow White And The Huntsman,' which was released in 2012.
"Long before the evil Queen Ravenna was thought vanquished by Snow White's blade, she watched silently as her sister, Freya (Blunt), suffered a heartbreaking betrayal and fled their kingdom," the official synopsis states.
As Freya is capable of freezing any enemy, the ice queen spent considerable time in an isolated palace creating a band of huntsmen, which includes Eric (Hemsworth) and warrior Sara.
However, the icy queen found out that these said warriors defied her one rule, which is to "forever harden your hearts to love."
"When Freya learns of her sister's demise, she summons her remaining soldiers to bring the Magic Mirror home to the only sorceress left who can harness its power," the film's synopsis continues.
However, when the queen learns that Ravenna can be brought to life, the dark cruel sisters bring on threats to the enchanted land. With a massive army building up, it is up to the banished huntsmen who broke the queen's demand to fight their way back.
In the 15-second teaser, viewers can catch a glimpse of Blunt's wicked Ice Queen riding on an armored bear and passing through broken buildings as Theron's Ravenna spills black liquid from her mouth and breaks off into a maniacal laugh before the clip ends.
Earlier this year, Blunt shared her sentiments about joining the cast.
"It was so much fun. I play Charlize's evil younger sister and it was a total queen-off. There were two crowns on set"”you don't want that! It was awesome," she shared. "I love working with all those people."
Aside from Theron, Blunt and Hemsworth, the upcoming fantasy film also stars Jessica Chastain who will take on the role of Eric's warrior ally Sara as well as Sam Claflin, who will reprise his role from the first movie.
"The Huntsman Winter's War' makes its way to theaters on Apr. 22, 2016.
