Last Sunday, LG made an official announcement that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update will be coming to its G3 handset within this week, starting in Poland. Other countries will follow suit but no details have been specified regarding the exact dates.

LG G3 users in the United Kingdom will reportedly be receiving the OS update between the last week of November and early December.

"The new features and improvements in Android 5.0 will bring a whole new user experience to the G3 and make it even better than it already is," LG Electronics Mobile Communications President and CEO Dr. Jong-seok Park said in the company's statement.

LG has also pointed out that it will be releasing an official schedule for its other mobile devices.

With the Android 5.0 Lollipop update coming up for the LG G3, it is expected that changes in layout, notifications, color scheme and lock screen will be made available.

Improved connectivity brought on by new security features will also allow the unlocking of the LG G3 when a Bluetooth device is in close proximity.

Interestingly, a new Battery Saver mode allows users to turn off any background data to save battery life while the Overview menu presents running apps as "a stack of cards."

Last October, LG Germany took to Facebook and made an announcement that Android 5.0 Lollipop will be updated for the G3 flagship device, followed by an update for the G2 as well.

Meanwhile, it has been an issue for many as to why Google has not yet released the latest Android version for their current Nexus devices, such as the Nexus 5 and the Nexus 7.

Recent reports have suggested that the company planned to release the Android 5.0 update earlier last week but the update was moved to this week for certain bugs and errors to be fixed.
