Pastor Hyeon Soo Lim, the lead pastor of Light Presbyterian Church in Toronto, has been detained by the North Korean government, and he has not been in contact with family or friends since January 31.

A prayer meeting for the safe return of Pastor Hyeon Soo Lim, who was confirmed to have been detained in North Korea during his recent visit on January 27, and for reunification in Korea will be taking place in Los Angeles at the Korea Campus Crusade for Christ (KCCC) office on April 12 at 5 PM.

Lim, who had previously served as a staff of Campus Crusade in Korea, is the lead pastor of Light Presbyterian Church in Toronto, and had visited North Korea 110 times and offered humanitarian aid in various ways, including through nursing homes, daycare centers, and schools.

"This prayer meeting seeks not to see the issue as a political one, but will be one that seeks God's will and one that is founded on the faith that God is the only one who can secure the safe return of Pastor Lim," KCCC stated. "Further, we hope that this prayer meeting will be an opportunity for the Korean churches in Southern California to wrestle together regarding reunification in North Korea. We invite all those who have been blessed and challenged by Pastor Lim's ministry to join us in this prayer meeting."

Currently, the Candian government has been seeking contact with Lim through the Swedish embassy in North Korea, but the request has consistently been denied, and Lim's current condition is uncertain.

Lim has been challenging many in the Southern California area regarding ministry in North Korea and in world missions, and had been involved in GKYM, a ministry that focuses on building up the younger generation, since 2010 and had worked together with local churches to bring spiritual revival among the younger generation.
