The Altanta Community Food Bank has been hosting the Hunger Walk/Run since 1984, and participants for the past 31 years have raised over $7 million to fight hunger.
Yesana Mission, a Korean non-profit organization in Atlanta, Georgia focused on helping and sharing the love of Jesus with the homeless, will be participating in the Hunger Walk/Run once again this year.
The Hunger Walk/Run was started in 1984 by the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB) to help those in need in the community. More than 11,000 participate and more than $500,000 are raised each year. The Hunger Walk/Run has raised over $7 million over the past 31 years.
The online registration fee for those who would like to walk is $25, and $35 for those who would like to run. The ACFB also encourages participants to make additional donations, or fundraise among friends and family members for donations, to further help provide meals for the homeless and those in need. Participants can register individually or as part of a team. Walk-up registrations on the day of the event are also available, but the walk-up registration fee is $5 more than the online registration cost, making it $30 for walking, and $40 for running.
The 5K walking/running event will be taking place at Turner Field on March 15, 2013, at 2 PM, while walk-up registration and other entertainment will begin at 12 PM.
Other than its participation in the Hunger Walk/Run, Yesana Mission has consistently been involved in homeless ministry, particularly by purchasing food from the food bank each week and providing it to the homeless.
